MY STORY

How I Began and Where I’m Headed

Thanks for stopping by to learn a little bit more about me. My journey to private practice is both short and sweet. I am a coach and counselor for the adolescent and young adult community. I also hold a social work license in the state of New Jersey. My background in therapy and counseling helps guide me in my practice, however the work I do with my clients is goal-oriented and focuses on reaching future aspirations.

When I was a student in high school, I frequently saw my guidance counselor. I started by going to the guidance office to review my grades, and I then found myself going there when I was dealing with emotional and social issues. It was a safe space for me and it was from that young age that I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in helping adolescents and young adults navigate through their lives, too.

I have been working in the field for 15 years. I started off as an undergraduate intern in a school setting, worked for one year in foster care and then I returned to the school setting. At my last job, a regional private school, I was both a counselor and department chair. As Assistant Director of the Guidance Department, I was able to help students on a macro level by creating programs, assisting with their schedules, collaborating with administrators and parents, and working with other counselors to create an open and safe environment for the students.

At S. Guttmann, Private Practice, I work together with each client on an array of topics including time management, organization, career exploration, social integration, self esteem, life transitions, healthy relationships, self care,  and so much more. I will assist every step of the way!

I am passionate about the work I do and feel that working with tweens, teens, and young adults promotes healthy development. All young adults should feel that there is someone that understands them and knows them well with the goal to see them strive and succeed.
